This extension adds a context menu item for selected text that provides more information (from the Unicode database) about the characters selected.

  This initial version shows the character, the Unicode codepoint, and the character description. Descriptions are available for characters whose names are in the Unicode database, for Hangul syllables, and for CJK characters, although the descriptions of CJK characters are an unconfigurable combination of a few pieces of data.

Known bugs

• In Firefox 2 on Windows, it was reported that the dialog is not resizable. However, it's resizable on Linux.
• The context menu item placement is incorrect in Thunderbird.

Known feature requests

• Ability to identify characters in address bar and search bar.
